The highlights of this trip include hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Then visit to the Paro Dzong, Tallest Statue of Buddha (51.5 m), the Tashichho Dzong and many more.

In Punakha, we visit the Dochu La Pass, the Temple of Fertility and the Punakha Dzong. In the evening, we hike to the beautiful Khamsung Yulley Monastery built by Her Majesty the Queen Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck.

Sketch Itinerary for 6 Days Bhutan Tour:

Day 01. Arrive Paro – Thimphu (2320 m) (Distance: 54 km, 1 hr drive):

Our guide will meet you at the Airport and drive to Thimphu.

On the way, view Tamchog Monastery built in the 15th century by Thangthong Gyalpo also known as Lama Cha Zampa.

In the evening, visit to:

  • Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo.
  • Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 02. Thimphu Sightseeing:

After breakfast, visit to:

  • National Postal Museum, where you can make personalized Bhutanese stamps.
  • National Memorial Chorten (1974) built in honour of our 3rdKing, late His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

  • Sangaygang view point.
  • Dupthop Nunnery.
  • Takin Preserve center.
  • Changangkha Monastery founded by Phajo Dugom Shigpo in the 13th

After lunch, witness the Archery match.

Day 03. Thimphu – Punakha: (Altitude 1310 m) (76 Km, 2 ½ hrs drive):

After breakfast, drive to Punakha.

  • On the way, visit to the 108 stupas at Dochu La Pass (3100 m).
  • Royal Botanical Garden at Lamperi.
  • Chimi Lhakhang built in 1499 by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, popularly known as “The Divine Madman of Bhutan”.

After lunch, visit to:

  • Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is situated between Male River and Female River.
  • Hike to Khamsung Yulley Namgyal Choling monastery built by Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck.

Day 04. Punakha –Wangdiphodrang – Paro: (Altitude 2280 m, Distance 132 km, Drive Time 4 hours):

After breakfast, drive to Paro via Wangdiphodrang.

  • Take a view of the Dzong from outside: This Dzong was razed by fire in 2012 and is under re-construction.

After lunch, we visit:

  • National Museum (Ta Dzong) built in1656 and renovated in 1968.
  • Paro Rimpung Dzong which literally meaning “Heap of Jewels”, built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal,

In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.

Day 05. Paro Sightseeing: (Altitude 2280 m):

After breakfast, drive to the base of the monastery.

  • Hike to the Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang) Monastery.

After lunch, we visit:

  • Drukgyal Dzong built in 1647 by the great Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal
  • Kichu Lhakhang, built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Srongsen Gampo.

In the evening, visit to a typical Bhutanese Farm house.

Day 06. Departure:

After breakfast, drive to the airport and farewell.
